Safety Precautions

  • When you are taking a tool out of the tool case, be careful not to hurt yourself on the sharp edges and don't drop the tool. When a sticker is attached to a tool, be careful when peeling off the seal.
  • Tools have sharp cutting edges. They can easily cut your hands. Do not touch the cutting edges. Also when installing a tool with a cutting edge in a machine, wear protective gloves.
  • Check for flaws and cracks in a tool before using it. If any problem is seen, do not use the tool. Otherwise, the flaws or cracks can become larger during operation and sometimes parts of the tool may be flung out away from the machine.
  • Holding or using an operationg tool incorrectly can injure you and damage other property if the tool becomes dislocated or is flung away from the machine. Thus, always use a holder and other safety equipment that is suitable for the job.
  • Make sure the workpiece to be processed is firmly secured. Failing to do so can damage the tool or the work and it can be flung away from the machine.
  • Do not touch the rotating tool or the workpiece being processed. Doing so can cause bodily injury.
  • Place a safety cover in position before starting to work and wear safety glasses and other necessary protective clothing. If a strong impact is applied to a rotating tool, it can be damaged and flung away from the machine. Hot cutting chips flung away from the machine can burn you and inflict injuries.
  • When any abnormal condition is detected (cutting chip noise, vibration, smoke) while machining, stop the machine immediately. Failing to do so may cause the tool to be damaged or fly away from the machine and injure you. Findand resolve the problem before you resume machining.
  • Hot sparks created while cutting, heating due to damage, and hot cutting chips can cause a fire. Thus, always use the proper cutting oil, depending on the work. Be sure to take the prescribed fire-proof measures before applying a non-water-soluble cutting oil.
  • Do no touch burrs on the work. Otherwise, you may be cut.
  • Do not touch the tool or workpiece right after cutting. They will be very hot. You could be burned. Wear protective gloves when touching the tool or the workpiece.
  • Regrinding cutting tools generates dust, which can have adverse effects on your health. Always wear a dust mask and install a dust removing system before regrinding cutting tools.
